While on the big island, we stayed at a couple of fun hotels.  This first of which was my favorite.  Check out the view from the lobby.

While we were exploring the grounds of our hotel, we found some fun critters by the shore, like these strange, flat urchins and this bright red crab.

One day, we drove around the coast from Kona over to Kealakekua Bay, where the Captain Cook memorial is located.  We rented a kayak and paddled across the bay where we tied up to a tree branch and hopped in the water.  There was so much to look at, from the fish to the urchins to the coral.  It was nice to just have time to explore.  I could sit in one place waiting for the perfect photo of a fish that was hiding, if I wanted.  Check out some of the cool things we found.

After our snorkel extravaganza, we kayaked back to our car and took off to Volcanoes National Park to see some active volcanoes!
