Since we work in Miami, our daily commute is ~1hr each way in horrible, gridlock traffic.  Not only is it soul draining, and the worst way to start or end a day, but it also robs us of 2 precious hours of our every weekday.  So, in an effort to reclaim our day and save some commuting $$, we moved to Miami last weekend.  We found a nice sized apartment in an area by Biscayne Bay, just South of downtown, called Brickell.  We are right in the middle of the city and it is a very walkable place with lots to see, do, and eat.  I have never lived in the city before and I think it will be a fun adventure!  As I said, we moved in last weekend amid much last minute drama, and have unpacked and almost completely settled in.  This weekend we are starting to take in our city lives!

Another amazing perk to living in Brickell is that I am able to take public transportation to work.  I ride the Miami Metrorail for about 10 minutes and get off at a stop right at my work campus.  You can see the stop that I get on from our balcony (red arrow in the picture).  Woohoo!  Also, since we moved away from a beachfront condo building in Hollywood, we made sure we weren’t too far from the beach down here.  We are very close to the Rickerbacker Causeway, which takes you over to Key Biscayne, including miles of beach and bike path.  Brickell is a great location for so many reasons!

Here are some photos of our new place and the view from our wonderful balcony…
