One of my very favorite radio shows/podcasts, Radiolab, was just honored with a MacArther Genius Grant!  Well, the show’s host and producer, Jad Abumrad, won the award for his work on that show.  In case you are unfamiliar,  each recipient of the award (22 this year) receives $500,000 in no-strings-attached support over the next five years. The award comes without stipulations or reporting requirements, offering Fellows unprecedented freedom and opportunity to reflect, create and explore.  Its hard to describe the amazingness that is this show, so I will use their words…..

“Radiolab believes your ears are a portal to another world. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience. Big questions are investigated, tinkered with, and encouraged to grow. Bring your curiosity, and we’ll feed it with possibility.”

I highly recommend you go listen to an episode or two.  They are FREE and the full episodes are ~ 1 hr long on topics ranging from why we sleep to how do we develop a sense of morality to the feeling of falling.  And they are incredibly entertaining.

That is awesome. Radiolab is the greatest radio program ever created in the history of human-kind and likely of any other kind too.

I’m also sure they could use the extra funding.
