Jason – Since I love to quibble, I will posite that a moment, on some Arabic calendars, denotes one sixtieth of a second in the same way that a second denotes one sixtieth of a minute in English time.
I believe the minute and half definition comes from Jewish Orthoxy, and relates to the minimum amount of time it takes one to truly consider something.
More profound, but equally arbitrary.
